Kayak Livingston Creek (Reedy Creek)

Come join us as we kayak down the beautiful Livingston Creek in the Lake Wales Ridge State Forest - Arbuckle Tract.

We will have 9 single person kayaks available on a first come, first serve basis.  Please let David Waldrop know before the event if you wish to use one of these kayaks.

We will shuttle cars down to the Lake Arbuckle Campground where we will end the kayak trip.  This is an approximate 3 mile paddle along a meandering creek and then a 1 mile paddle along the lake shore to the boat ramp at the campground.

If you have your own kayak, please bring it, paddle, and life jacket.

For those borrowing one of the kayaks this gear will be provided with the kayak.

Everyone should bring water, snacks, sun/bug protection and lunch to eat along the creek.

I wish to thank the City of Winter Haven for the use of their kayak fleet!!

I really enjoyed this event! It was a beautiful day to kayak this river. I was allowed a leisurely pace, and the more experienced kayakers helped me negotiate the tight turns and learn how to get back into the kayak. Great people! Thanks for organizing this event!!

Had a great time--thanks to all. FYI info for next time or for anyone. Val & I stopped for ice cream in a 50's kind of burger & ice cream place in Frost proof. I think it was called Frostbite. It's on Scenic 17 near & north of McDonald's off of 630A.

David, I regretfully withdraw from this trip..... I do want to go but school is a priority and you need as many kayaks as you can get and I don't want to hold up any kayaks that someone else would like to use.... Have fun !!!!!

Hey David, I have decided not to attend on Sat the 21st. To many people for me. So today, I took my friends who were
coming with me to your paddle and we did Livingston Creek today. The creek has a nice pace to it. One down palm tree trunk that if you stay to far left you can work yourself over it. It was helpful when the first two of us got over we turned around and drove our kayaks on the tree trunk to help hold the left side down for the other three to come over. Two other trees were down, both can get around to the left of them. Bottle necking at these points will be a challenge. We had a wonderful day. You guys enjoy and be safe.

David, I was coming with two friends. All three of us won't be coming so don't wait for us. Thanks

Hi, are all the single person kayaks taken, I figured with 29 people going the chances were slim, thanks Vicki

At this time, they are all spoken for, but keep an eye on the comments section in case one comes available. At the last chapter meeting a gentleman offered a seat in his canoe so that is an option for you as well.

You will want to wear something that can get wet. Water dripping off the paddles and the possibility of getting out of the kayak to portage over/around obstacles is always there. I have a pair of Keen water sandals and my usual quick dry hiking pants. I usually have a long sleeve shirt as well to keep the sun off my arms. Wide brimmed hat and sunglasses are also nice to have.
