Kayak Livingston Creek (Reedy Creek)

Description:  Come join us as we kayak one way down the beautiful Livingston Creek in the Arbuckle Tract of the Lake Wales State Forest.  When we get to Lake Arbuckle, we will be paddling over to the county park.  We will be shuttling cars down to take out area at the Lake Arbuckle Campground and County Park.  The address of that park is 2600 Lake Arbuckle Road, Frostproof, Fl 33843).  We will be stopping on the river to eat lunch.

Distance and/or time info:  It is approximately three miles on meandering Livingston Creek and then a one mile paddle on Lake Arbuckle to the boat ramp at the county park.

Bring: Kayak, PFD, paddle, water, lunch and/or snacks, sun and insect protection.

John thanks for the photos. It captured the event perfectly. Florida at it's best and we were part of it.
David thanks for all your work and the shuttle service. Great day!

Note for anyone coming up south of Frostproof, the bridge on TS Wilson Rd/S Lk Reedy Blvd is being replaced and closed to traffic. A detour is in place to get you around this. If you are coming from the north of Frostproof you will be fine. As you approach the turn for the Lake Wales Ridge State Forest (Lake Arbuckle Rd) you will see signs saying the bridge is out 3, 2 and 1 mile ahead, the bridge is past the turn on Lk Arbuckle Rd so you will be fine.

Please note: this is can be a moderately difficult run with the higher water levels. This is a "wild" creek and there is an expectation that there will be a few obstacles to maneuver around/through/over.

Would enjoy the trip. Leaving that day for Alaska for a 9 day trip to the remote village of Galena. Doing relief work from last years Yukon one jam. Have fun.

One thing missing from the "bring" list is a whistle or other signaling device. It is state & federal requirement. I apologize for the omission.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
