We are a group of concerned American citizens. As we have watched the events of 2009 unfold, it has become clear that there is a strong movement in the country to fundamentally change the United States. Unfortunately, this type of fundamental change runs counter to the ideals and intentions of our founding fathers.

We would like to invite you to join this High Desert 9-12 Patriots group here in Harney County. We hope that a local group can be established for like-minded people to come together, share ideas and support each other in trying to do our part to keep the country on the right path. (By come together, I mean in "cyberspace" as well as in person.)

I believe that it is our responsibility as citizens to help keep our country true to its founding ideals. It is our responsibility to educate ourselves and to stand up and act when our elected officials do not faithfully represent us. It is our obligation to hold the elected officials to their promise of defending and obeying the Constitution. If we do nothing to stop the train of progressive "fundamental change" that is roaring through our country, we will have no right to complain when we wake from our complacency to find the nation transformed.

Since the founding of this nation, there have been many points in history when the "idea" of America has been tested. We believe that our country is yet again balanced at such an historical juncture. The relative success of the progressive movement in advancing their liberal cause should serve as a clarion call to all Americans who do not support "fundamental change".

If we stand together, as Americans, and do not let ourselves be divided by partisan labels or by partisan politics, the effort to keep the United States true to its founding principles will prevail.

In March of 2009, Glenn Beck, a conservative Independent who hosts a radio talk show and a television program on the Fox News Channel publicized the idea of The 9-12 Project:

"The 9-12 Project is designed to bring us all back to the place we were on September 12, 2001. The day after America was attacked we were not obsessed with Red States, Blue States or political parties. We were united as American standing together to protect the values and principles of greatest nation ever created."

If that sentiment strikes a chord, then we encourage you to investigate this website and consider joining us. Here are the websites of other 9-12 Project groups:

Please feel free to email me, Gretchen Bates, if you have questions or comments. I'll try to get back to you within a day. I look forward to hearing any ideas you have on making this local 9-12 group successful.

~ Gretchen
