Object Oriented Programming (OOP) principles with PHP

The High Desert Web Developer group is back!

The High Desert Web Developers group meets the last Monday of every month. This local group is a nice place for people to learn and talk about coding for the web. We talk about web development in general, covering all aspects from planning, design, development, and maintaining a web site. RSVP is not required and attendance is free. Tell all your friends!

What are we going to talk about?

Writing SOLID PHP code.

This month Tom Friedhof will share 5 principles of object oriented design (SOLID) using PHP.  The concepts discussed apply to any language, but this presentation will focus specifically on PHP, and a little bit on how to apply these concepts with Drupal.  As developers, we spend most of our time maintaining software over building software.  Using the SOLID principles when we write code will help the longevity of your application, and the ability to support it for years to come.

Community Time / Lightning Talks

After the initial topic discussion, we'll open up the floor to the community where anyone can talk about anything web related. Do you have anything cool you want to share with the community this month? Share your knowledge!!! Post your lightning talk in the comments.

Last month at the meetup, it was brought up that people wanted to get a peek into how everyone has their development environment setup. We will give the opportunity for anyone to share about the tools they use for web development.

Let's limit the lightning talks to 10 minutes max so everyone gets a chance to talk.

Where are we meeting?

The Wine Seller

The Wine Seller is the new venue for this meetup. They have just expanded, and have a really nice space to just kick back and relax, even after the meetup is over!

If you plan on attending, RVSP for the meeting, YOU WILL GET A FREE DRINK OF YOUR CHOICE IF YOU RVSP. (Wine, Beer, or soda)

ActiveLAMP, the meetup sponsor of this group, has agreed to sponsor drink tickets for all attendees that RVSP on this site. You DO NOT have to RSVP on this site to attend, you can just show up. If you do RSVP, you'll be emailed a reminder for the meeting one day before the meeting, as well as receive a free drink at the meetup.

Feel free to leave a comment if you have any suggestions or want to give a lightning talk. See you there!
