We're a committed group that volunteers for Habitat for Humanity in Wake County by working on ladders and roofs. We do siding, shingling, roof trusses, and metal/vinyl trim. We accept experienced people and beginners who want to learn. We are looking for folks who will usually volunteer 2 or more Saturdays a month. If you cannot commit that many Saturdays then volunteer when you can by contacting Wake County Habitat directly at www.habitatwake.org. The intent of our Meetup group is to eventually offer Wake County Habitat experienced volunteers that can do high quality work high off the ground, and lead other volunteers in that work. I am willing to train people from other counties if they want to volunteer in Wake or return to their own county's Habitat affiliate to volunteer. Disclaimer: I have volunteered for Wake County Habitat for 15 years, but I am not a Wake County Habitat employee. Any decisions about where work is done, who does it, and how it is done are subject to Wake County Habitat approval.
I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
