Hey High Desert!
Are you a young professional living and working in the High Desert? Do you drive down the hill JUST to have a social life? Wish you had some people to simply grab food with after work on weeknight evenings?
Our objective is to help local young professionals meet people they can relate to in casual friendly social environments that you can trust without having to drive down the Cajon Pass.
Weeknights after your 8-5 shift, your newly found young professional social circle will meet for drinks, get to know each other, and discuss/plan larger group events, including but not limited to Trips to LA/San Diego/Vegas, Camping/RVing, Backyard BBQ’s, Dining out, Concerts, Bowling, Board and Video Game nights, Dave and Busters/Gameworks, Karaoke, Bars, amateur rocketry launches, the possibilities are endless.
There are already a few social Meetup Groups based in the High Desert. HDYP is the only High Desert/Victor Valley-based meetup group that caters specifically to the young professional age range and walk of life.
IMPORTANT - This is a very special opportunity for the Victor Valley. We are serious about this group being legitimate and prefer our members to have walks of life in line with the group's identity. We screen all new members by asking a few simple demographic questions, and explain why you think you'd be a good fit for HDYP. Full answers are mandatory.
While not prerequisites, we strive to find members who are:
-In the 24-39 age range
-Living or working in the Victor Valley (Victorville, Hesperia, Adelanto, Apple Valley etc.)
-College graduates (Bachelor's Degree or better)*
-Employed, preferably at a stable 8-5 M-F job (events will be most friendly to this schedule)*
*Also acceptable to currently be on a serious committed path towards these statuses.
We also encourage a donation to cover group costs - see Disclaimer below.
Hope to meet you soon!
Disclaimer. PLEASE READ COMPLETELY. You agree to this before joining:
"High Desert Young Professionals" aka HDYP is a nonprofit group maintained using the Meetup web service. Meetup group organizers are required to make a semi-annual payment of $90 ($180 a year as of May 2015) to maintain their meetup groups. To help cover this charge, all members are encouraged to make a $10 donation to the group, once a year. This payment should be made through the Meetup website (using the Contributions/Chip In button on the main page) but other methods will be accepted. This will not be enforced, and Meetup won't kick any new/reinstated members out for not paying. However, you agree that you'll be aware of the fact that you can donate.
As a member of HDYP, you agree to waive, release, and discharge from any and all liability Meetup.com, HDYP and its organizers, and all other members of HDYP. You also agree to indemnify, hold harmless, and promise not to pursue legal action or monetary damages from the above entities from any liabilities or claims made as a result of participation in group events, whether caused by inappropriate/criminal/illegal actions, negligence of release, or otherwise. "Meetup.com" does not represent, condone, or endorse any hurtful or incriminating behavior of the members of "Meetup Groups" or otherwise, including HDYP. It is the responsibility of the organizer to create specific rules and disclaimers which best fit the group's interests.
You consent to being photographed at events and these photos will be published on the HDYP Meetup page as well as our Facebook HDYP page. Both pages are considered "Private" by Social Media standards - only members of the group(s) can see the photos uploaded.
HDYP does not tolerate illegal or criminal activites of any kind. Members are expected to behave in an adult manner at all events organized and endorsed by the group.
All members are expected to participate in events regularly; lack of active, in-person participation in events within a reasonable timeframe of joining will result in a discontinuation of membership. Our membership reflects active, participating members. All communities in the "High Desert" are welcome to join as long as you understand we expect you to make the drive to specifically the Victor Valley area where a majority of the events will be. Employment is not a requirement of being an HDYP member, however, if not having a source of income eliminates your ability to actively participate, your membership can be removed at the discretion of the organizer(s).
