Hike Humber Valley Heritage Trail

This is not our usual Humber Valley Heritage Trail hike. This is a new set of trails, closer to Kleinburg. Probably, we will add a little bit of hiking at Kleinburg to extend the hike a little. There will be lots of apres hike opportunities in Kleinburg.

As usual, we carpool from Yonge and York Mills.

    • Howard G.

zhijun, I hope you are okay. Don't worry about rides. Lots of drivers either are not on MeetUp, or they lurk here without announcing seats. There will be room for passengers.

      April 21, 2013

  • Martha B

Sorry about this guys, but I have a touch of arthritis in my knees and when they flare up, it knocks me right out of the game. I'll have to sit this one out. Sarah, go to the York mills meeting point anyway, there are always rides to be had. Have fun guys!

I will drive directly to the trail from Etobicoke.

    April 20, 2013

I checked out the trails in Kleinburg, unfortunately, on Thursday evening when it rained. Sunday's hike is rather short. We can extend it by hiking the William Granger Greenway out of Bindertwine park, or by checking out the McMichael art gallery. There are some nice restaurants in Kleinburg, so there will be no problems locating beer and muchies.

Hi, I would like to join this hike but I'm coming from Aurora. Where is the hike starting, and the approximate time on Sunday morning please? I will drive direct. Can p/u along with way if anyone requires a lift.

I only have running shoes, are hiking boots required?

    April 19, 2013

  • Martha B

I'll have three spots if anyone needs a lift. Just come to York Mills and we'll figure it out.

This is from http://www.hphc.ca/Sc... Please do not bring children and/or pets. Children are not always capable of handling the ten to fifteen kilometers we normally do. Dogs don't always behave well with crowds of strange people.

      Thank you @Mae.

Howard.... considering the number of people,,,,are you the only hike master? and are we constantly going to have to wait for all to catch up? Like in Niagara? Or can the group be split into two levels? like serious and recreational?

    April 17, 2013

    • Howard G.

This is a new trail for us, so for the moment, I am the only one who knows it. I have not seen anyone successfully split a hiking group into two. It did not work last Sunday. My plan is to hike at a moderate pace, so that the group does not get too spread out.

      1 · April 17, 2013

    • Howard G.

Also, on any hike with lots of waterfalls, some people are going to sight-see. Humber Valley will be easier in that respect.

      please read the link above

      April 16, 2013

The part I have hiked so far is a bit over 8km. I need to scout around Kleinburg to extend things a little.

Is anyone doing a pick up from Kipling?

    April 15, 2013

    • Ruth

I need a ride from Kipling too! Any station between Lansdowne and Kipling!

      April 15, 2013

  • Maria Victoria E.

Hi everyone, I am recovering from my nasty cold. I'll be joining. Anyone from Etobicoke willing to give me a ride? Kipling station is good for me. Royal York better. Cheers,MV

    April 15, 2013

  • Richard

I would love to have joined you, but once again, I have to work this Sunday :(

    April 15, 2013

  • Marjanne L

I will be driving from Mississauga. Let me know if anyone wants to get picked up from Square One. I can take three passengers.

    April 15, 2013

  • Jonathan

If you are organizing a west end carpool, please consider using the Kipling station, because it has a Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off area where you can park and wait, and it is closer to the highway.

    April 14, 2013

    • Vivian

That's good to know, thanks for the tip!

      April 14, 2013

    • Howard G.

I believe parking is free at Kipling.
