Please check our schedule for updates: http://hphc.ca/Schedule.html

For carpooling, please read http://www.hphc.ca/ShowingUp.html

As usual, we meet 10 am at York Mills Subway Station to organize carpooling.(Old York Mills Rd Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off Point).

We always have more drivers than passengers; you don't have to reserve a seat ahead of time, just show up before 10 am and we will arrange one on the spot.

Drivers

Please post a message on how many passengers you can take. Please state if you plan on staying for refreshment and/or dinner.

Passengers

Please plan on sharing gas/admission costs with the driver. est $40 per car. It might cost more for further distance, less for a trail nearby. Please prepare exact change. In the past we had passengers who did not bring small bills, which made an awkward situation for everybody.

If you are organizing your own carpool, please use our Facebook website. For west end carpool, we suggest Kipling Station as a meeting point because it is close to the highway and has passenger pick up parking. The usual common sense and personal safety precaution is advised; please note that people offering/requesting rides might not be members of our club.

Itinerary

We meet at the trailhead around 11 am. We stop for lunch at around 1:30pm (pack your own).

We should finish the hike around 4:30pm to 5:00pm.

Remember to bring too much water, hat, sun block, bug spray, walking stick.

Additional note

We usually go for a refreshment after the hike. Sometimes we even stay for dinner. This is not compulsory, but it does add to the fun. There are many nice restaurants out in the countryside, it is a good opportunity to experience their fine fares. I would like to extend an invitation to all the hikers: whether you are a drivers or a passenger, when you sign up for the hike, please plan on joining us for some social afterwards. If you must rush back to Toronto, please make it known at carpool time, so that we can group the drivers and passengers together.

Our membership form is up on the internet You can print it off and either mail it in, or bring it to the hike.

Hiking is a dangerous activity; each participant agrees to assume his/her own risks. If you are new to hiking, please start with a Level 1 hike. Hike leader's decision is final.

See you on the trail.

Sunday's hike was great and thoroughly enjoyable. The people, nature and weather all combined to make a memorable day. Thanks to all for the opportunity to spend it in such nice surroundings with people who enjoy the outdoors as much as I do. I looked forward to this coming Sunday but had to make a reservation to return and take care of some things with my house. Leaving on Friday. I will be back next month and will watch for meetups - I look forward to many more. Cheers!

    Egh chance of rain.

    September 23, 2013

    • Jonathan

In the spring and fall, there is always a chance of rain in the morning, but will clear up by the time we start hiking. Unless the forecast is for torrential rain, I would keep my spirit up and plan to attend. Grab a raincoat, bring an umbrella, and wear your hiking boots. Life is too short to stay home and wish you had come. Enjoy!
