History of High Park Clubs:
In the beginning there was one High Park Ski Club,
We went skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, and rollerblading together.
When the membership grew, and the type of activities grew,
the non-skiing activities were split into independently operated clubs.

Hi Jonathan, sory to bother you...can i change from Saturday to Sunday

    January 9, 2013

    • Jonathan

BTW, IMHO, the Saturday trail is prettier.

      January 9, 2013

Sandy the trip is cancelled. Highlands Nordic is persistently High Park's favourite ski destination. They have excellent ski and snowshoe trails, and the best chalet of any X-country ski resort in southern Ontario. When conditions are good, Horseshoe has the best X-country ski trails in southern Ontario. Their west yellow trails are flat, and ideal for beginning skiers to practice technique. Their north red trails are challenging and fun. If you can get down the Achy Breaky without doing a face plant, you are a good skier.

The High Park Test Drive day has been cancelled due to the crappy weather. High Park will try again in February, so keep watching this space!

    1 · January 10, 2013

    • Suneela

I just received an email that this trip is cancelled and I would be refunded my payment! So do I still need to check the status?

      January 10, 2013

    • Jonathan

No, if the club notified you that the trip is cancelled, it will not go live again.

      January 10, 2013

  • Mark B.

It will be 13 degrees Celcius. The snow on my property has already melted.

Hi.... more obvious quetions: I checked the site but didn't understand, sorry. How much? Is it for beginners? I have never been snowshoeing, is that OK?

    January 6, 2013

    • Jonathan

is this the site you read?
      http://www.hpsc.ca/da...

      Cost:
      Bus $25.00
      Xcountry Trail Pass $13.00
      Xcountry Rental $17.00 - 22.00
      Snowshoe Trail Pass $9.00
      Snowshoe Rental $9.00

if you are going snowshoeing, the cost is:
      bus $25 + trail pass $9 + rental $9 = $43

if you are going Xcountry skiing, the cost is:
      bus $25 + trail pass $13 + rental $17~22

No experience is required. You do need to be of average fitness and mobility. If you can hike 10km, you should be ok.

Highlands Nordic is persistently HPSC's most popular X-country destination. They have very well groomed trails, which they add to every year. This is a high-end racing course. Now, they have very good snowshoe trails. Their chalet has the best food of all the X-country resorts in southern Ontartio.

      1 · December 31, 2012

High Park Ski Club is, obviously, a ski club. They have a race program as well as instruction. The instruction is strongly recommended if you want to ski. The snowshoe program is relatively new. The "guided" snow-shoeing program means you have an escort as you make your way around resort trails. They (we?) have a back-country program, with trained tour leaders, including me! Back-country trails will not be available on January_12.

Note to everyone. You must go to the HPSC website at http://www.hpsc.ca and register for this trip, by 6:00pm, Thursday, January_10. On Thursday evening, the ski club must order a bus, or buses if they are lucky.

Are there any pre-requisite for skiing, or is it good for absolute beginners as well?

HPSC provides ski lessons for cross country, downhill and snowboarding. Lessons for all of these activities, are strongly recommended.

Is it a coach bus ?

    January 1, 2013

    • Howard G.

High Park Ski Club uses Pacific Western buses. These are luxury buses with comfy seats and a washroom.
