This group is for anyone interested in developing a meditation practice. We will be gathering for meditation and discussion.
What Is Meditation?
Meditation, or Shikantaza, in the Zen tradition is an awareness practice. There is no right or wrong way to meditate. Perfection is not the goal while sitting. Nor is it to attempt emptying your mind of thoughts. It might be better to enter the practice with no goal at all. The important thing is to sit with your eyes open, keep still, and sit for the allocated time. Nothing more.
About The Facilitator
Badri has practiced meditation for over ten years and began Soto Zen style meditation (Shikantaza) for six years studying closely with teacher Bob Brown. She has attended sesshins at Jikoji Zen Temple with Shoho Michael Newhall, SokukoJi Temple with Bob Brown, and Beginners Mind Zen Center with Peter and Jane Schneider, and one ten day solitary retreat. She received her lay precepts in January, 2010.
