Let's celebrate the 6th year anniversary for our group with a beginners and sociables evening hike and picnic on Tuesday 20th.
We will hike for about an hour (we will pick a different route each time we go) in Croton point park starting at the park's main parking lot. At the end of our hike, we will enjoy a sunset potluck picnic overlooking the Hudson, so bring some finger foods to share. Out of the park by dusk.
Come explore the beauty of Croton point park and the Hudson river on this evening hike. As we stroll around the park we will see a combination of history and nature. We will have views of the Hudson river, possibly pass by the wine cellars or venture down to the shoreline. Enjoy the sunset over the Hudson river with us.
Terrain: Easy, with a couple of smaller hills. A mix of gravel roads, grass and woodland trails.
Distance: ~ 2-3 miles
Pace: Relaxed (each will walk at their own pace, the group will stop to let all catch up at various points along the way).
Dogs: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome, but should be on a leash. Owners should find out and respect the rules of the park, and follow requests made by the organizers. Please make sure you bring water for your dog.
Children: Children are welcome on this hike if accompanied by an adult who will take full responsibility for them. They need to be also of good nature - no complaining! If you wish to bring a child please include them as a guest in your RSVP.
Prior to RSVP'ing please make sure you understand the group's guidelines for Attendance and RSVP etiquette.
What to bring and wear:
Bring water/snacks. I would recommend wearing hiking boots or sneakers. We will have a potluck picnic at the end of the hike, so bring some "finger foods" to share.
Park at the main parking lot of the park. Drive to the end of Croton point ave, past a toll booth, and then straight at the little roundabout. Parking will be on your left, meet at the far end of the lot towards the gazebo.
I will be monitoring the weather prior to the hike and if conditions are not good the hike is subject to cancellation. Please make sure to check your email/site prior to leaving for the hike, cancellation notices will be sent prior to 5 pm if required.
