Beginner and Sociables Evening Hike: Croton Point Park (4/17)

  • Apr 17, 2014 · 6:45 PM
  • Croton Point - Ball fields before park entrance

The evenings are getting longer again, so it's time for some evening hikes in our local parks!  Let's explore Croton park, we will take slightly different routes each time we go.....this time we will meetup at the ball field parking lot prior to entering the park and will be out of the park at dusk around 8/8.10 pm.

Come explore the beauty of Croton point park and the Hudson river on this evening hike. As we stroll around the park we will see a combination of history and nature. We will have views of the Hudson river, possibly pass by the wine cellars or venture down to the shoreline.

Hike info

Terrain: Easy, with a couple of smaller hills. A mix of gravel roads, grass and woodland trails.

Distance: ~ 3 miles

Pace: Relaxed

Dogs: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome, but should be on a leash. Owners should find out and respect the rules of the park, and follow requests made by the organizers. Please make sure you bring water for your dog.

Children:  Children are welcome on this hike if accompanied by an adult who will take full responsibility for them. They need to be also of good nature - no complaining!    If you wish to bring a child please include them as a guest in your RSVP.

Prior to RSVP'ing please make sure you understand the group's guidelines for Attendance and RSVP etiquette.

What to bring and wear:
Bring water/snacks.  I would recommend wearing hiking boots or sneakers.

Meeting point:
Park at the ball field parking lot prior to park entrance. Drive over route 9/railroad tracks on Croton point ave, parking will be on the left as you come down from the bridge.  If you reach the toll booth at the park entrance you have gone too far.

Cancellation notices
I will be monitoring the weather prior to the hike and if conditions are not good the hike is subject to cancellation. Please make sure to check your email/site prior to leaving for the hike, cancellation notices will be sent prior to 5 pm if required.

How far is this from the train station?

    April 16, 2014

    • Heike

Danny per google maps it is 0.7 less than 15 mins walk, from the station platform to the ball fields. it is basically behind the station yard. Come out of the station parking turn left on Croton Point Ave over the bridge and then the ball fields will be on your left. We will be leaving from there.
