This is a discovery hike (i.e. I have not done this before) that will be taken at a moderate/moderately fast pace. We will explore the new Kitchawan to Teatown trail starting in the Kitchawan preserve on this out and back hike. We will be out for about 2-2 1/4 hours, and will go as far as we can during that time.
Due to the pace and the fact I have not done this hike before I would not recommend this for beginners.
Distance: ~ 4-5 miles
Terrain: Unknown. There will be some hill climbs.
Dogs: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome, but should be on a leash or strict control of the owner. Owners should find out and respect the rules of the park, and follow requests made by the organizer.
With our daylight hours limited please arrive on time, we will be leaving promptly.
What to bring
Bring flashlight (we will be out of the park by dusk, but as sunset is getting earlier - 8 pm we will be hiking out during twilight with deminishing light), water, something to snack on, insect repellent and anything else you need to enjoy the hike. You should wear hiking boots or hiking sneakers.
Trail-map (print a copy and bring it with you): http://leathermansloop.org/download/trailmap/TeatownKitchawanTrail_color_093010.pdf
I will be monitoring the weather prior to the hike and if conditions are not good the hike is subject to cancellation. Please make sure to check your email/site prior to leaving for the hike, cancellation notices will be sent prior to 5 pm if required.
