OK, call me schizophrenic, but I'm changing Monday's hike yet again. Today I scouted a new area here in Castro Valley and I honestly can't think of trail I like better. The trail starts at Cull Canyon Regional Park. To get there from Castro Valley, take Crow Canyon Road to Cull Canyon Road. Drive about half a mile and the parking area for Cull Canyon Park will be on your left (if you get to a street marked Columbia, you've gone slightly too far). For exact directions from your location, use the map link above.
This is a lightly used trail, very shady and bicycle free. The trail switchbacks through oaks and bay laurels along Cull Creek, which we'll cross several times. This is an out-and-back trail. Our hike will be about 7 miles total.
I'll be driving a green Subaru Outback and have two mini dachshunds. The hike starts promptly at 8:30 am.
