Little Sugar Creek Greenway - Easy Walk

** Please read all event details before RSVP **

Walk length:  6 mile total (out and back)

Walk level: easy to moderate (because of length)

Pace: moderate 2.5 to 3 mph

Duration: 2.5 hours +/-

Terrain: pavement

Start time: 9:30 AM

Description: A space for quiet reflection or a social hot spot, the greenway will be built with the diversity that has Charlotte/Mecklenburg in mind. The walker, jogger, tourist, nature lover, bench sitter or cyclist will delight in this path that connects us all. Urban Little Sugar Creek also includes a major stream restoration project to enhance water quality.

Terrain: All of our walk will be on pavement and concrete, also crossing some neighborhood streets.

Pets are permissible, though they must be leashed at all times. There are several locations which have garbage cans, as well as doggie bags for picking up after your pet.

There are public restroom facilities along this greenway at 3 mile mark.

Each hiker is responsible for their own snacks and water if needed.

We will be parking on the side or behind Michael's Arts and Crafts Store in the Park Rd. Shopping Center.

We'll meet at the side or rear parking lot of Michael's and walk 100 yards over to the greenway trail head. Then we'll walk north on the greenway, passing through a neighborhood and then Freedom Park. Continuing on the greenway and stopping at the new fountain just short of Midtown Park before returning the way we came.

Our walk will start promptly at 9:35 AM. Carpool where possible.

Just wanted to park this info here, in case we get to do this hike again (hope so!). This is a link to an article describing the 21 statues planned for the Trail of History, which includes part of the walk we went on. "The Little Sugar Creek Greenway trail eventually will run 20 miles from uptown to the state line. It is one-third finished and the goal is to complete it by 2018."

Very nice day with great weather, friendly folks and a good brisk 7-mile walk to start the day. Really nice to see what Charlotte has done to beautify the city. I can see adding this to our regular rotation. Thanks to everyone for coming out!!

For anyone interested in carpooling from Mooresville, I will be at the Kohl's parking lot (I-77, exit 36 - SR 150) ready to depart for Charlotte at 8:30 AM. Either be in a blue Ford Ranger or white Mustang (haven't decided yet).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
