This group is open to Dog Owners and Non-Dog owners, it was started to allow people who want to go hiking to connect with each other at no cost. I hope to get other people involved in posting hikes so that you have a few hikes a week to choose from. If anyone would like to post hikes let me know and I'll make you an assistant organizer.

I really hope that ALL hikes posted will be open to friendly dogs, but I do understand that not all hike are appropriate to take dogs on. So please use your better judgment when deciding if you'll bring your dog(s) along on a hike or leave them at home. For example you Should not take a dog on any ridge hikes or if your hiking Mount Olomana. Any hikes I personally post will be open to dogs.

I have been asked the following questions..

Do you need to own a dog to join? NO but if your scared of large dogs this might not be the group for you. My dog is 82 pounds and I plan to bring him on any hikes I go on.

Why did I open another hiking group when there are already a bunch for the island of Oahu? Well I decided I wanted one that stated Dogs are Always Welcome and at no cost to its members.

Hike Organizers have the right to request you leash your dog(s). Many of these hikes are popular hike and it is only fair to other hikers that they don't have dogs run up to them. Plus You are responsible for your safety and the safety of your dog(s). The best way to do this is to keep you dog(s) on leash and on the trail. Also remember there is a Leash Law in Hawaii. See below

Dog owners- You MUST Bring Bags to clean up after your dog(s); You will need to carry out anything your dog(s) might make along the trail. Please lets keep Hawaii's trails clean.

ALL DOGS MUST VACCINATED before doing any hikes with the group. Any puppies under 18 weeks of age will be asked to leave until they are old enough to join us.

PLEASE make sure your dog(s) have been vaccinated against LEPTOSPIROSIS before doing any hiking. As a Veterinary tech I have personally seen what this disease does to a dog and what the cost is to owners. Once they have been vaccinated they are fairly safe but nothing is ever 100%. People need to be aware of this too since Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that affects humans and animals. Want more information on What is Leptospirosis please visit http://www.cdc.gov/nc...
