Coal Creek Park

Because of the lack of parking at Coal Creek, we will be parking at the Red Town Trailhead parking lot just across the street.

The trail through Coal Creek Park is surely one of the most surprising hikes anywhere around the Puget Sound area. Featuring several waterfalls, a small canyon, and an environment typical of the Cascade foothills, the park stretches the boundary between the suburbs of Bellevue and the natural areas of the Issaquah Alps.

( Information provided by 60 hikes within 60 miles )

Parking may be limited and the parking lot does fill up early on the weekends. We should carpool as much as possible. I live in Redmond if anyone would like to carpool with me.

Directions:

From I-90 take exit 13 and get onto Lakemont Blvd SE ( Lakemont Blvd begins at this exit ). Continue up Lakemont 3.1 miles and you will see the parking lot on your left.

Dogs are allowed on this trail but must be on a leash at all times.

Length: 6 miles (round trip)

Difficulty: Easy to moderate,

Elevation gain: 300 feet.

Configuration: out and back with optional loops

Scenery: Historic mines and structures, waterfalls and a creek

Exposure: Shaded

Hiking Time: 2-3 hours

Facilities: No restroom or water at the trailhead

What to Bring: Water and something to snack on

I'm doing the same as Kim.

I am canceling in advance of the steady rain predicted to occur at the time of this hike. If that forecast turns out to be a false negative, I'll show up

Are there any plans to increase the number of people for this hike?

Unfortunately, it would be hard to increase the number at this time.

Okie, no problem. Maybe some other time.

I have an unexpected family event that makes it unlikely I would be available this Sunday. Very much like to hike and meet folks. Have a great hike.

I had a conflict come up so changed the RSVP. Hope to meet some of you in the future! Have a great hike.

I've decided to spend the morning at home with my husband before he heads out of town for a work conference for the week. Have fun everyone!

Will you frown at me if I don't want to hike in the rain? ;)

Hi Jo, One thing I learned about living in Washington, if you cancel every time it rains, you will be spending a lot of time indoors. That gets depressing after awhile. I would much rather be outside.

Just a reminder that we have a lot of folks on the waitlist so if for any reason your plans change in the next day or so, please take a moment and update your RSVP. I do frown on no-shows and last minute cancellations, especially when others miss out because of it.

I registered, and then when I added a friend I got knocked to the waiting list :( And I can't even see where it says the number is limited.
