The reason I like this is because it makes for a great gift! You can buy it for someone so that it takes affect after their current pass expires or ahead of time for your own pass.   The Discover Pass is required for all motor vehicles accessing State Parks and other State-managed recreation lands.   Once again I will remind you that Mt. Rainier National Park will close the road to Paradise on Tuesdays & Wednesdays during the winter months. Chains are required in all vehicles that drive up to Paradise during the winter months.   A note for those whom visit Paradise and Mt. Rainier this winter. It is against the rules to feed the wildlife and it also causes them harm. The rangers on Rainier are from time to time undercover and some look like you and I walking around the parking lots. If you are seen feeding the foxes, you will be given a $120 fine. Due to the current lack of funding to have rangers undercover at all times, when a fox is spotted in the parking area the rangers now pepper spray them to prevent them from returning. This seems harsh but it is less so than waiting around for someone to feed them. I know it is nice to feed the grayjays from your hand but do not do it in the parking area. You must be on trail or you could be fined for this too.   The State has purchased the North Head Lighthouse at Cape Disappointment from the US Coast Guard. The lighthouse will be open to the public in May thru Sept.
