We shall start by saying that not much in life is free or at little cost. What is free are our senses. Our eyes for sight, nose for smell, ears for sound and our ability to feel textures, plus mobility. With these, we can take advantage of what else is free. Nature and the beautiful landscapes that are within Surrey and our immediate counties.

This group, it is hoped will help members to receive greater benefit of what so many take for granted and receive, again free, the therapeutic rewards of such a marvelous pastime as is the case with something so simple as hiking.

It does not end there, as it enables total strangers to meet in a relaxing environment and chat. Total strangers that on the high street, would never dare say hello to a passer by for fear of being thought odd. This said, it is common practice to acknowledge other hikers, even if not in the same party, with a simple hello.

Many people that truly enjoying hiking already have a common interest and that is walking with nature and given this, it becomes so much easier to socialise at other times with these same people. As this is the case, once Hiking and Socialising with Surrey Walkers gains momentum, perhaps other activities can be added to the core of hiking.

Who May the Group Appeal To?

Take a Hike has been set-up to provide meetings between like minded people that have a love of the outdoors and what nature offers. As such, if you posses a zest for such and social interaction, perhaps you've found the right place. Hiking distances of 6 - 8 or more miles does require a degree of physical fitness and this needs to be taken into account with a sensible approach to prevent personal injury. Apart from this, walking the countryside rewards one with countless benefits both mentally and physically.

Get them boots dirty and looking good.
