challenge yourselves! climb Mount Maroon!

been looking for a challenge?
Mount Maroon has one for you!

This is a challenging walk (part scramble) defiantly not for the unfit!

Getting to the top is worth it!

Mt maroon is the steep peak beside Mt barney, starting at the end of Cotswold rd maroon you start going up an incline that leads to a rocky scramble up a small gully (the last 200 meters or so), once you get to the top of that its opens up to a shallow treed bowl (much like a rotten tree stump) with a ring of rocky cliffs circling it!

Distance wise its not particularly long but its a climb straight up and then straight down on the return, and a 'stairs' like section near the summit is testing. Best done in the cooler months as there's not a lot of tree cover on the way up

This can be done it 4hours if you do not stop, but consider 5hours is more likely

Meet at the end of cotswold rd, maroon on saturday at 8:20 for a 8:40 sharp departure!
(just drive all the way till the road stops, theres a car parking area and national park sign)

I will be camping at flannagans reserve on the friday night if you want to join me ($8 per person per night) send me a txt! (a campground nearby)

Please bring: water, snacks, lunch, personal first aid kit (recommend voltaren), energy/magnesium drink (to stop cramps), suitable cloths/shoes

This is a strenuous climb and a good challenge, not for the unfit!

Letting you know that we four 'slow-pokes' got off the mountain safe'n'sound. When we got to the top for lunch, we were greeted with sun+sunny views - and a bunch of my walking friends from other clubs. Really nice! A great day all round.

Hmm. .. what's the go on the weather front? It's absolutely pouring down at my place a d Google says it's meant to continue tomorrow. Will that render the track unsafe?

Sounds good, see you all at 6.40 on the Wynnum Road side. There's a bus stop there where you can pull in, that's where I'll wait.

    Hello Andrea,
I will drive along Johnson Rd and then turn onto mount Lindsay highway, I think this is lower down than Beaudesert road but if you can get there I can pick you up.

Can someone give a lift from brisbane

    May 11, 2014

  • Emma

I'm keen to come too! My little car isn't the best on uphill and windy roads though so if there's a carpool going I'd love to join it and will chip in for fuel. I can drive to anywhere on the southside to meet it! :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
