Start the weekend with Grady and I hiking along the towpath. We can meet that the Merriman Road Trailhead and hike to the Big Bend Trailhead and back (2 miles each way, flat). This trailhead is across the parking lot from the Akron Dog Park, if 4 miles isn't enough for your pup.
IF there is any interest, we could make this a recurring event, possibly picking different trailheads and rotating week to week.
Hiking is a great way to get in shape or stay in shape. It is low impact exercise and is a family oriened activity. It also give you a chance to explore our local parks and wildlife.
We will be scheduling group hikes for the Summit County Metro Parks Fall Hiking Spree. As well as other activities as they come up.
During the winter if the snow gets to be at least 4 inches on the ground we will schedule snow shoeing hikes in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Snow shoe rental is cheap and there are multiple locations they can be rented in the park itself
As for the hiking Spree you can find a copy of the form with the hikes in files folder located under the more tab at the top of this page.
