NOTE: If I do not know you, your RSVP will be deleted before the event. Join one of my hikes in the next few weeks please if we have not already met.
I've been so busy moving this summer that I planned nothing for the 4th of July. Now that I'm moved in it's time to start enjoying the scenery!
I set the location as the Jerusalem Mill parking lot but we will NOT be meeting there. I'll email attendees the address a few days before but it is about 1 mile from that parking lot.
We'll meet up early and drop your potluck goodies at my house. Then we'll hike the south white trail for about 7 miles. Then we will cook out and enjoy some grub while overlooking a quiet spot in the river.
Post what you're bringing please so we don't end up with 50 bags of Doritos. I'll provide a grill for any meat that needs to be cooked.
We'll cross the covered bridge, the Iron Bridge and do the Kingsville county park loop. This trail is my favorite trail so far in the Big/Little Gunpowder parks in the Kingsville area.
The South trail has some rocky and root areas you need to scramble over. I recommend hiking boots rather than sneakers to protect those ankles!
Total distance will be 7 miles. There is no bail off area so please be able to do the full distance. Please plan to be able to keep up at 2.5 to 3 miles per hour pace for 3+ hours without significant breaks.
We will step off at 2:30. If you are late, txt me. I will post my number and the address the night before the hike.
This is a rain or shine event.
Dogs are welcome but they must be well behaved! I don't care if you let them off leash but you must and I mean MUST be able to control them verbally or with an e-collar. If they trip someone up or act out I will ask you to put them on leash. There are places on the South trail where a dog could knock someone down a hill into rocks or the water. Also, if they mess on my property you'll need to take care of it.
Dogs will not be allowed in the house. There is a fenced area they can run around in though.
After the cook out we can head to Bel Air to watch the fireworks - I hear they put on a pretty good show. And after the fireworks we can return to the house for a fire pit - assuming I can get it built in time!
This is cross posted with the 20s and 30s hiking around MD meetup group. No need to RSVP both places.
Oh, and I'd appreciate any cleanup help at the end. :)
