Gunpowder River Pleasantville Bottom Loop

This is a new hike for this group, I have been asking about it and there it was in the book all the time. We will be hiking along side the Gunpowder River and then ascend to the rail bed of the old MD. PA Railway. This is a 4.5 mile loop. Take 1-695 to Exit 31, Harford Road northwest. Go 8 miles to a left on Fork Road. Go 2.5 miles to a hard right on Pleasantville Road. Go 1 mile and cross the bridge over the Gunpowder to a
small parking area immediately on the right. The trail heads downhill toward the river from the parking area. There is a small parking area here. If we have a large group we can park additional cars on Bottom Rd. To get to Bottom Road take 1-695 to Exit 31, Harford Road northwest. Go 8 miles to a left on Fork Road, then go 1.6 miles to a right on Bottom Road. Go 2 miles to the parking spots near the river.

Well-marked trails, beautiful scenery complete with snow-covered trees and the winding river, peaceful, great conversation, awesome lunch! This small but fast-paced group really had a great time hiking and lunching at the Greek American restaurant. We discussed a myriad of topics ranging from cadavers to chocolate covered insects. Fun times for all! and a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Sorry to hear about the flat tire Susan :(
But the hike was Grand ! :)
26 degrees and cloudy with beautiful light snow. Per My Tracks we did about 7.3 miles in a loop, with average walking speed of almost 4 miles /hr. (took 2:25 with stops). Jim, Shannon, "G" and Carly and I had a blast !
John if you are here, tell me how to post the My Tracks map here.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
