The weather looks like it should be great for hiking Sunday. 70F and sunny.
This is a really fun trail that doesn't see a lot of use. Lots of ups and downs but no major hills. Some nice views from the top of the dam. One of my favorite in the area.
My plan is to do the yellow loop (1 mile), then green loop (1 mile) and finally the orange loop (4.5 miles) for a total of about 6.5 miles. This hike is a series of loops that intersect. There are multiple spots you can bail off if you get tired at 1 and 2 miles. After the green loop, you're in for another 4.5 miles around the reservoir. Please plan to be able to keep up at 2.5 to 3 miles per hour pace for 2+ hours. There will be multiple moderate hill climbs and that terrain has rocks, roots, and it is not paved
We will step off EXACTLY at 4:00. If you are late, txt me at 301-six5five-5327. Otherwise there is no grace period.
This is a rain or shine event. Check the weather before you leave and dress appropriately. Long hiking pants are highly recommended!
If you cannot attend please change your RSVP. Two no-shows will result in me asking you to remove yourself from future events that have a wait list.
For dinner afterward we could try Buffalo Wild Wings, Chipotle, chinese buffet, whatever the group wants. We can play food by ear.
Dogs are welcome but they must be well behaved and on lead at all times. Friendly reminder - never approach an unfamiliar pooch on the trails. Let them choose to come to you only after you've asked for permission from their human.
