Baltimore 7 Mile Urban Hike - Baltimore's Waterfront Promenade

************ Update *************

For those of you who do not want to go the full 7 miles, you can meet us in Fells Point at the water taxi stand on Thames St right across from the Square. This will cut about 2 miles from the hike. We should be there about 11:45. Anyone wanting to meet at the water taxi stand please let me know so I can be on the lookout for you.

If you park in Fells Point, please be aware of the 2 hour permit parking on most of the residential streets and parking on Thames St will require paying to park.

Please be aware this is a 7 mile hike from start to finish. The promenade is mostly concrete and brick but some areas are part of the old wood pier (Fells Point) left from the good old days and some of the promenade (Canton) is even floating!

Stroll the Waterfront Promenade and discover one of America’s most dynamic urban waterfronts. Amble or power walk its seven miles on the harbor shoreline, or on inland segments. Linger where it connects with the charming historic waterfront communities of Canton, Fells Point, and Federal Hill, or at the bustling Inner Harbor. See the many faces of Baltimore’s character revealed, from the Canton Waterfront Park, to the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park, from the American Visionary Art Museum, to the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

Plan to spend a few hours on this event as we will leave the Canton Waterfront Park at 11am. Plenty of free parking on Boston Street. We can stop along the way for lunch/drinks. This is a great way to experience the Baltimore waterfront, hang out with friends and get some exercise as well. Since this is a 7 mile walk one way, I plan on taking the water taxi back to the Canton Waterfront Park. If you have never been on the water taxi, you will see the Baltimore harbor from a totally different perspective.

Should be a great day of fun and exercise.

Tomorrow is the big day. Just a reminder we will be meeting at the Water Taxi stop in front of Canton Waterfront Park and will be leaving at 11am. Canton Waterfront Park is directly across from the Duburns Arena on Boston St. Plenty of free parking on Boston St.

For anyone wanting to do a shorter walk, meet us at the Water Taxi stop in Fells Point across the street from the Fells Point Square on Thames St about 11:45am. IF you could please post that you are meeting us in Fells and we will look for you.

Linda, I am not sure where the end point will be. Originally I was using Harbor View Marina as the end point but I have talked to other folks who expressed a desire to visit a wine bar in Fed Hill so at the Maryland Science Center we will see who wants to finish the walk at a wine bar and who wants to finish the walk at Harbor View.

By ending at the Md Science Center we will cut off about a mile from the walk. Hope that helps........Let me know if you are going to meet in Fells and I will look out for you. I have at least one other meeting us in Fells.

What / where is the end point?

I'll probably meet you in Fells Point... and at the end of the day, I'm thinking I may walk back downtown along the harbor.
