Hiking - Gunpowder Lost Pond Loop

We will meet at 11AM at the bulletin board off Rt 1 Belair Road in Perry Hall and hike between 4 to 5 miles on the Lost Pond Loop of the Gunpowder. This side has very few hills or inclines. There are several stream crossings. Recommend that boots, water, snacks and stick/pole be used for those who need them. As always dogs are welcome.

The parking lot is located right across the street from the Gunpowder Lodge on Belair Road Rt 1.

Julie will also be hosting this meet-up.

Parking in that lot is ugly. Never enough spots.
I'm coming from the Belcamp, Aberdeen, Abingdon area. Anybody that wants to carpool just shoot me a message here by 9AM.

Hi Karen. Per the below, we're meeting across the street from the Gunpowder Lodge, which is at 10092 Belair Road, Kingsville, MD 21087. Apparently there's a billboard near the parking lot at the bottom of the hill across the street from the lodge.

Can anyone give more precise directions for where to meet? Which bulletin board off where on Route 1? The map shows that we're supposed to meet near an assisted living place? Is that right? Thanks.

Ryan, you might of missed my correction. The baltimore road runners are having a race at hammerman at 9AM and I was gonna jump on that at 9 ,be done by 10 and then shoot on over to kingsville from there otherwise I usually run the 5 mile loop before anyone gets there.I doubt if Ill make it to kingsville by 10 though because of the race.

  • Chuck R.

Melanie,if your coming from the south like me you will see the Gunpowder
lodge on your left(I dont know the exact adress but you could probably google it).The parking lot for the park is almost directly across from the gunpowder lodge at the bottom of the hill on Belair road. You should be able to see the river from Belair road.Hope that helps.

On second thought just found out that the Baltimore road runners are having the frozen finger five mile race right down in the hammermen park over at gunpowder at 9 so Im going to run that be done by 10 and then hop over to the hike at 11 up at kingsville. That'll be good enough.

I plan to attend (solo) but rain will cancel by RSVP.
Although I walk at least a mile every day, it's been a long time since I hiked more than 3 miles.
But I am ready to get back in the game.
    Thanks

If anybody's interested I'll be out there rain or shine.Ive run that trail in the snow before and also when it was washed out. It's still pretty fun.I did oregan ridge two weeks ago in the snow and it was pretty cool and I was surprised to see other crazy people out there too. It's good when your not alone in this world!

No rain date at the present. Hopefully it will pass us by, but if we reschedule it will probably be the following Saturday. If there's a conflict, you can change your RSVP.

    January 7, 2013

  • Anthony M.

I would like to do the hike. Is there a rain date (rain is predicted) and if a conflict comes up who if anyone shoud I contact?
