Now that winter is almost here I wanted to let you know the general policy for winter hiking.
I will cancel a hike if:
The temperature is below 25 degrees 1 hour before the start of the hike.
We have a heavy snowstorm that starts prior to or is predicted to start on the morning of the hike.
Common sense says to stay off the roads.
If there has been heavy snows with some thaw I may change the location of a hike to one with flatter wider trails with heavier traffic and easy access for an out and back.
