Starting at Ridley we'll hike towards the Rock Run Trail taking some hidden trails that I never used before. The area should be beautiful this time of year.

The loop will take 3.5-4 hours. We'll hike 8-12 miles.

Afterwards we'll head to the Riddle Ale House for repast and refreshment. It's about 3.2 miles, 6 minutes away.

Caution: You should be able to walk 3-4 hours without much of a break. You should have recently hiked 8 miles in conditions detailed above. Hills and some bushwhacking.

To carpool from Hill House meet at 1045am. Each carpooler chips in $4 at the start. Email me 3-4 days in advance and receive a reply.

    Stats according to my GPS:
    Distance 9.7 miles, Ascent 1571', Descent 1401'.

It wasn't the 9.7 miles, it wasn't the total ascent of 1571', but that descent was what killed my knees!

Track from Google Earth posted in pictures.

Question for those more familiar with GPS devices. I started a new track on the GPS when I got out of my car, and saved it when I got back at the end. So how come there s a difference of 170' between the Ascent and descent numbers? I know my memory isn't what it used to be, but I think I would have remembered reaching down that distance to open my car door at the end of the hike! What gives?

Is your GPS reporting your highest altitude as 1571 and your lowest as 1401? That would make sense since the tallest hill at Ridley is about 200 feet. I think Denise's GPS does something like that, so you might ask her (I have mine configured to report total ascents, so it really measures total hills you went up).

I'll check the manual, but I don't think that's the case. What it shows under elevation is: Min -25', Max 377', Ascent 1571', Descent 1401'.

Sidney thanks again for another great hike. It was a stretch for me because of the hills, but I really enjoyed it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
