Explore Wild Wissahickon

Join me to explore trails less traveled in the wild (I saw a ferocious chipmunk the other day) Wissahickon Creek part of Fairmount Park.
We hike at a moderate pace for about 2.5 to 3 hours. The terrain is hilly with lots of ups and downs. Each month I forge a different route or get lost in another area depending on your point of view. This is not a hike for those who want to go straight down one trail. We go up, down, around, back, hit dead ends, reverse course, and so on
.

In warm weather we often eat outside at Top of the Hill which is just a few blocks away. In the winter we often head to Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting which has everything from beer and burgers, to pizza, to mexican, to any other type of food.

CAUTIONs: If you haven't recently hiked at least 7 miles, then you should first try one of our shorter duration hikes. Area is HILLY; maybe some BUSHWHACKING.

Use this Google Map link to the starting point at Hill House.

The meetup was great. A great hike, great weather and great conversation along the hike. I am glad I was able to go and hope I can come back again soon.

Excellent. Sydney maintained a good pace, to give us a terrific workout. Looking forward to another Wissahikon hike.

I would be interested in tomorrow's hike. I have not hiked in awhile. I am fit. I don't have hiking boots but, will sneakers do?

Just in case Sidney doesn't see your question before tomorrow, just wanted to let you know that you can park anywhere on the street, but I find it easier to park in the train station parking lot, which is free and right down the street.
