ABOUT THE HIKE : THIS IS NOT AN INTRODUCTION TO HIKING.

This is a nice hike, a great exercise outdoor at sunset with fresh air instead of being in gym. This is a dog friendly trail

***We have two groups. Please indicate when sign up if you will come at 6:30PM. Click on RATING TABLE to learn more about difficulty levels***

Distance/Elevation/Duration: 4.5+ miles, <1000ft, 70 min-2 hours.

Group 1 will meet at 6:00 PM: Level 3 for fast pace ~ 3.5mph. If a group likes to go an extra 1.5 miles to side of the lake (clockwise) and back for couple more steep hills. This route will take total about to 1.5 hours.

Group 2 will meet at 6:30 PM: Level 1+/2  for moderate pace (2-2.5 mph). If a group likes to go an extra 1.5 miles to side of the lake (clockwise) and back for couple more steep hills. This route will take total about to 2 hours.

  • Let's plan on meeting at the back end of the park to make a more interesting hike and to avoid the parking fee. The pace will be moderate to fast. It feels like roller coaster on this hike. We will start at Eucalyptus trail and going up hill to the lake and hike back
  • Trail shoes with great traction are recommended as it is more comfortable hiking on hills. Bring water

DIRECTIONS :
Sometimes you may get a ticket if you park in the zone "NO PARKING anytime" Try to come early or park at Cedar Grove Park parking***
1. From the 5 Freeway- exit Tustin Ranch Road and head towards the foothills and drive approx. 3 miles. Get in the left hand lane and take a left on Pioneer WAY (signal). Thanks Dean for slowing down with the group and capturing "many thousands words" (a picture worths a thousand words). Thanks David for helping the 6:30PM group. It was great to see Heidi and our regular hikers in the "dark"...hummm...it was a bit slow for our indicated level. I suggest David shall take the group half hill up, so hikers will have more energy and get back not in the dark...however, it is up to you all when you choose your group pace. Happy Friday!

Susan, did you read the first line in the post? it was highlight RED! All about parking and driving direction are on the post. I bet if our group has used google map or GPS, many of us got lost. In the past 2 years, we had an error on the address, but no one found out until couple months ago, someone asked. We checked and noticed it was the main entrance of the park, but the whole time, the group has been looking for the driving direction and we have been meeting here for years...Please READ the post when you RSVP as it will save you from missing out hikes and getting lost!
