This is tough hike recommended only for those who have experience with hiking long distances and climbing steep slopes.

Description: Sierra Peak is a 3050 ft. mountain located between between Yorba Linda and Corona just south of the 91 Fwy. On a clear day, from the summit, all four counties are visible from the Pacific ocean to the inland deserts.

The hike begins from the parking area to the trailhead, this is a 1.3 mile hike along the Santa Ana river trial. The hike then continues from the trailhead to the summit and back forming a 11+ mile loop. The trail from the trailhead to the summit begins with a gradual incline and then gets more moderate up to about 1500 ft., after that point it's a combination of steep and very steep slopes (e.g. Dreaded hill and Elevator) with a few flat sections in between. The trail up to 1500 ft. is a fire road in fair shape, after that point it varies between good to rough shape. There are some large bushes to deal with along the way. The trail from the summit down to the trailhead is a fire road in fairly good condition.

Stats: Total distance is 12.5 miles, completed in about 5+ hours. Elevation gain is about 2750 ft.

Necessities: Adequate water (1 to 3 liter), hat, sunscreen, snack, layered clothing to adjust to climate change.

Directions: Create a printable map with directions from your starting point, by clicking on the map above. Please contact me if you have any difficulties doing so. There are limited parking spots in the lot, if all the spots are filled up then parking will be up the road, a car shuttle arrangement will then be set up - carpooling is recommended.

Weather: Excessively hot weather or rain prior to, or day of will cancel the hike. Check weather conditions the day of HERE.

Vincent, I believe it is about 4 miles one way, that would make it an extra 8 miles. Total trip would be at least 20 miles. Sounds good to me. That's a long day. Marlin and I are carpooling with Tracy and Cee, So everyone would need to want to do it as well. I'm sure Mo would be up for it, He walked half the way to the ball last week Ha Ha. Let's talk about it tomorrow and see how everyone feels. -Mike-

Tracy, Cee, how about Mike and I pick you both up from your homes since we all live so close. We can carpool since parking can be an issue. Tracy, u can email me your address if this sounds good to you.
