Get to know other fun girls in the (plus or minus) 30 to 40-year-old range who enjoy reading and would like to branch out and form quality friendships that aren’t superficial. While the structure of the group is organized around a book, there will not be any pop quizzes! Meetings will be a fun, SOCIAL atmosphere.
Please read this whole description if you're thinking of joining...
This group welcomes women in any life situation (married/new mom/single/whatever), so long as you have a fun, upbeat attitude, and can enjoy a cocktail, great food and meeting new people. No big egos here, just friendly women looking to connect.
Our group takes place at people's houses, so while we welcome everyone, please include your real name in your profile and a photo of yourself...not your dog or your kids. :) (By the way, many people sign into the meetup.com website with their Facebook account. If that's the case with you, make sure your main profile pict on Facebook is you, and not your dog or kid).
Keep it Going--New members are asked to contribute $5 (only on their first time). This is a one-time fee for the life of your attendance with the group, which goes directly toward the approx $200/year meetup fees that the organizer pays.
Meetings will be on the 4th Thursday of the month--that way it's easy to plan as you're looking at your monthly calendars. We’ll read a variety of genres: silly books, classics, memoirs, literary fiction and New York Times best sellers. No self help, and no religious/spiritual books.
The goal is to keep it local—We have a base of membership of ladies in and around the area of Laguna Niguel/South Orange County.
Come to as many meetings as you're able to attend, please bring either: A bottle of wine OR an appetizer OR a dessert to share. We don't coordinate who brings what, and it always seems to work out with plenty to go around for everyone.
Last: Various women give their time, energy and effort to host, so after 3 no-shows you'll be dropped from the group. You're always able to update your RSVP on the website, but this policy helps keep members accountable, and lets the host know how many people to expect & have food/wine for.
