Ameriville: State of the Union Seen Through Humor, Hip Hop

The acclaimed performance group Universes combines poetic storytelling with the infectious rhythms of jazz, gospel, blues, hip-hop and even flamenco to create an unforgettable evening of song, dance and spoken word. The four talented artists of Ameriville -- made up of three men and one woman from a variety of different backgrounds -- take audiences through an exploration of politics, poverty, race and other contemporary issues in post-Katrina America with humor and heart. A hit at the renowned Humana Festival, the show is now winning raves across the country.

This sounds like a pretty good performance group.  All shows begin promptly at 7:30pm. Regular price tickets range from $35-40, but Goldstar is offering discounted tickets for $10-15.  To  purchase your ticket in advance, go to http://www.goldstar.c...

Thanks for your response Toya! I would assume that no one else purchased their ticket since I haven't gotten a response. You guys still have time to purchase tickets at the discounted price ($15).

Hi Jamie, I want to go but I've been trying the link for the last 20 minutes but haven't been able to purchase anything. I'm guessing they've sold out of the discount tickets.

@ Shanekah, I don't know what happened, but there are still discount tickets available. The $10 tickets are back as well. So, try the link again and see what happens.

@ Tasha, the meet up time is 7pm. The show doesn't start until 7:30pm. So far, I only know of two people (besides myself) from the group who bought a ticket.

i see they have $10 tickets but it's now a $6 service fee. argh.

Also looking at the text at the bottom of the gold star link, it says:

"Advisories and Restrictions: Late seating is at the discretion of the house manager."

I was a house manager for 2.5 years at a theatre and that means they might not be able to set you if you're late. FYI all. Depending on the configuration of the theatre and available late seats (without disrupting other audience members).

@ Toya, I read that tickets are sold up until 3 hours before the show begins. The $10 tickets always had a $6 service fee attached to it. As far as late seating, I stated that I will try to save a seat only if I could.

Also, there are two other meet up groups attending as well. If anyone would like to have a light snack after the show, you are more than welcome to join me and other members at John Barleycorn--which is like a block and a half from Victory Gardens Theater. The address is 658 W. Belden Ave.
