Using Angular in large software applications

AngularJS is booming, it is actually the framework that Hippo has chosen for its upcoming UI-revamp.

How does one go about using Angular in a large (existing) software application? What are the challenges you will face?

In this meetup we'd like to hear your experiences in this, while sharing our own.

As always, Hippo will provide the location, food and drinks, so come one come all!

As you may know, if you have attended an earlier Hippo Meetup, attendees are very encouraged to participate actively in the event by giving talks or suggesting a point/topic which they would like someone else, who might have more knowledge about, to give a talk or explain some more information related to that point/topic. Talks don't have to be technically deep, you don't even have to have prepared slides, although better to have, all what we need from you is to know how to run a presentation or a discussion.

General information about Hippo Meetup:

Hippo meet-ups are not about Hippo products as can be expected, but they are more about technologies we use and are interested in.

People and catering and the place were very good. But, the topics discussed were too vague and far away from angular.js. I was expecting to listen to more topics dedicated to angularjs itself, its internals and its benefits and problems. But the talks were more philosophical than practical.

Sadly I can't make it to the meetup (some last minute project events that demand attention). So if someone's waiting to get in, here's your chance!

I would like to discuss a bit about structuring large scale Angular applications, we already have around 10k LOC in JavaScript, mostly Angular and running into the first problems with how to make it modular and manage dependencies. I started with some ideas around using Angular's module system as a base and provide stuff like jQuery and so on through it, or turn it around and use CommonJS. But somehow no matter how it is split up, you always dealing with two types of modules, internal angular stuff and something else on top for dependency management.

We will talk about our ideas for implementing the Hippo CMS
frontend in AngularJS. Topics touched are “Hippo architecture”,
“enterprise challenges” and “dealing with legacy”. This is an ongoing
effort, and we would love to hear your feedback and ideas!
