Bayou Bend Collection & Gardens Tour

Hello All!  Keith here.  It seems there is much interest in visiting Bayou Bend.  The weather is about to be nice, so let's make this happen!

I think the guided tours would be interesting and reservations are recommended.  We will need a good count closer to the date.  So, save the date!  Adjust your RSVPs as necessary.

We will determine a gathering place to meet, possibly different than and prior to the tour start location/time.  In the past some have met for breakfast prior to the meetup or a cafe after.

Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens
Bayou Bend is the MFAH house museum for American decorative arts and paintings. Displayed in the former home of Houston civic leader and philanthropist Ima Hogg (1882–1975), the collection is one of the finest showcases of American furnishings, silver, ceramics, and paintings in the world. The house is situated on 14 acres of organically maintained gardens in Houston's historic River Oaks neighborhood.
Open year-round, Bayou Bend welcomes thousands of visitors annually for tours and special programs. With the addition of the Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center, which includes the Kitty King Powell Library and Study Center and The Shop at Bayou Bend, as well as state-of-the-art education and rental spaces, Bayou Bend has established its place in the continually growing cultural arts scene of Houston.

I'm not really interested in touring the inside of the house again, but would like to meet up with people to walk around the grounds if the weather is nice. I'll show up about 10:30 to give you time to finish inside.

I think we can; in fact, that's where we need to purchase tickets. I just walked by the place and it seems like it's easy to meet there.

If we are not going to the Black Walnut Café, is there anywhere else we can meet?

Pam, I believe there is a visitor's center. I've emailed Bayou Bend and will call them tomorrow too. They may have a preference as to where we gather our group. I sent out an email. As no one has shown interest in meeting at Black Walnut prior to Bayou Bend, I will not be at Black Walnut. I will be at Bayou Bend[masked]

Okay. See you all at Bayou Bend around 9:30 - 9:45 a.m.

The Black Walnut Cafe is right down the street on Memorial & would be a great place to meet if anyone wants to either before or after. They have wonderful food & it's not a sit-down restaurant with service so we wouldn't have to worry about seating or reservations.

Hopefully Bayou Bend will have their Christmas decor up and present for the 30th of November! It is remarkable how each room glows with its own theme and usually they have a 'hidden' mouse in each room. Its fun to be the first to spot it! Don't know if that's what they do each year but it has occurred in the past. Bayou Bend has some great Sunday programs for the family. Looking forward to seeing the location again!

The date and time are not specified for this Meetup. Have I missed something?

I bought the Sip and Stroll deal for $7.00 for 10/10. If anyone else wants to buy a ticket for $7.00 (normally $14), here's the link. It includes drinks and appetizers.

I just joined this meetup and have no idea if you all have already done this...but it is something I would love to do. I would have liked to do the Azaleia trail but sadly, it have already happened.
