Summer Drinks at the George Inn

Join us for summer drinks outside the historic George Inn Southwark.

Owned by the National Trust the Beautiful George Inn is an original Coaching Inn dating from the 1600s. With its impressive galleried frontage, it originally contained accommodation for weary travellers.

The pub still retains some of its former features. The waiting room for coachmen and passengers is now The Old Bar. The Coffee Room, reputedly frequented by Charles Dickens, is now The Middle Bar. Here you can also find Dickens' life insurance policy displayed on the wall.

Weather permitting we will grab a couple of the outdoor seats.

I have a dogs meetup at 1 but would lie to come here after. Dogs are allowed outside right? She is a tiny thing on a leash of course. Anybody happen to know?

So I had one pint and left, too crowded for me and the pup, she was freaking out a bit. Sorry about that, I should have taken your number to text when I was there. I'll be prepared next time I promise! Thanks again!

I believe, there is another famous one- well I am sure there are many, this one is where Lord Lucan's wife ran to tell of the horror that her nanny/ah pair had been murdered but can't remember the name of that pub. Tina

Shakespeare frequented The George before a fire (not that fire) claimed it. The George used to run around the entire courtyard but 2 sides were knocked down a century ago.
