City of Shipwrecks (Happy Hour Talk at The California Historical Society)

Journey back in time as Odd Salon and the California Historical Society reveal the stories, people, lost landmarks, and ephemeral wonders of the San Francisco Bay Area.  Each month from June to November at CHS, Odd Salon will tell the city’s weird and wonderful history through happy-hour talks highlighting the most fascinating, overlooked, strangest, and intriguing stories from the city’s past, one era at a time. To help bring these stories to life, CHS archivists and librarians will showcase objects of intrigue, including maps, photos, ephemera, rare books, and historic items from the CHS Collection in a series of pop-up exhibits.

Richard and I are having dinner at 5pm at Wexler's (upscale, inventive BBQ) on 568 Sacramento at Montgomery, if anyone wants to join us. Let me know so I can increase the reservation number.

Am very disappointed I have to cancel. If you haven't already gotten your tickets, it's now sold-out. Just bought mine for the 3rd talk.

My apologies! I have an unavoidable conflict this evening, so I can't attend and play host for our little group. This is the second happy hour talk in this series and the second one that I can't make. Argh!! I hope everyone will go and enjoy. Leave comments here if you want to make a plan to get together.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
