History Cafe: Historic Menus

What can restaurant menus tell us about social history? How has the way we cook and eat changed over time? Join bookseller Taylor Bowie, author Clark Humphrey, and Seattle Weekly restaurant critic Hanna Raskin for a discussion of some examples from The Seattle Public Library's collection of historic Seattle menus.

Join us on the 3rd Thursday of the month at Roy Street Coffee on Capitol Hill for lively a discussion about history. Each cafe features a different topic, and invites history enthusiasts to come together and share what you know. Grab a cup of coffee - or glass of wine - and enjoy learning about the past!

This event series is brought to you by MOHAI, KCTS 9, The Seattle Public Library, HistoryLink.org, and Roy Street Coffee.

Great night - enjoyed looking at how menu's and tastes have changed - liked the way the speakers complimented each other with their distinct views. As usual - time for audience participation. I will definitely come again - thanks for your efforts

Enjoy the audience's first hand accounts combined with the speakers experiences! It was a pleasure to know that there were restaurants, in the post WWII era that sought to give their customers an experience and not just good food. Loved the crowd that this meetup drew. This is my first Meetup and appreciate the age & gender mixture of the audience/group.
