PSC 16 Edition - HOW MACHINES LEARN By LUCA CANINI
Hello HIVE BERLINers
The Pop Science Berlin is presenting the following event: HOW MACHINES LEARN
As most educators, we are interested in how people learn but the way machines learn is also relevant to us.
I hope you can make it for this fascinating event
Looking forward to seeing you
HOW MACHINES LEARN
This month of May our friend Luca is joining us to do a presentation on the fascinating topic of Machine Learning.
This presentation will focus on the role of data in our society and on how automatic systems can learn and predict behavior and events by feeding algorithms with data. Luca will start with an historical perspective on the machine learning field, to arrive to describe real-world scenarios where these technologies are massively used. Finally, Luca will point out relevant social challenges that the pervasiveness of such systems arise.
About LUCA CANINI
Luca Canini received his MSc (2008) and PhD (2011) in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Brescia (Italy). His work focused on machine learning techniques for semantic modeling and understanding of multimedia and behavioral data. During his academic career he has been a visiting scholar at the IVE Lab, University of Teesside (Middlesbrough, UK) and at the DVMM Lab, Columbia University (NYC, USA). He currently works as Data Scientist at Yonder (yonderlabs.com), the company he co-founded in March 2012. Yonder is headquartered in Trento (Italy) and operates also in Berlin and, more recently, in London.
We hope to see you there!
