apply() and relatives

 A discussion of apply, tapply, lapply, sapply, mapply, rapply, aggregate, by, split, rowSums, etc.

(and if time permits those distant relatives who should best be left locked in dusty attics: do.call and reshape)

No add on packages here, just straight R (though I may show some timing comparisons for the fun of it).

A BIG thanks to John for stepping in at short notice.

    Hi 'apply' attendees... Well done to one and all for sticking it out until 5pm on a Friday afternoon! For those interested, I've posted the html and Rpres files to the More/Files section of the Meetup site. You'll need a modern browser to view the talk in html, and the latest dev version of Rstudio for the Rpres file. See here for the latter: http://www.rstudio.com/ide/download/preview

    Cheers,

    John

    Great and informative talk! Many thanks John. Sorry I didn't get to speak to everyone.

    Hadley Wickham's 'plyr' is worth a look, if only to simplify the *apply zoo. Pity I can't make the meeting.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
