This group should be writers of fiction, drama, and poetry. Since most creative ideas for writers come from within us, we have found that regular writing of a diary, a journal, or of memoirs, is a vital part of creative writing. By writing memoirs, or keeping a journal/diary, we tap into the vast creative storehouse of our memory on a regular schedule. We should meet weekly and each member should be prepared to read his or her week's memoir or journal, usually about 500 to 2,000 words.
We will critique each other's work, not so much for grammar or literary conformity, but for originality of ideas, artistry of expression, and creativity.
I am a former newspaper reporter and editor, 28 years with two major metropolitan daily newspapers. I also earned my Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Pennsylvania. I am used to writing, and over the years I have developed skills to help get the best work out of fellow writers. If you're a writer and believe that you can be more creative than you are, consider meeting with us.
