I'm a big fan of foreign languages, cultures, etc. And I love mole. In fact, when I take tour groups to Mexico, one of the things I do is take the group to see an artisan make different kinds of mole, and then to a cooking lesson on how to use it!
Somewhere in between. I definitely know what I love, like, and don't much like.
Cocina de Consuelo, Casa Garcia, Fonda San Miguel, and Casa Chapala are the best I know. There are plenty of places I haven't tried... but I'm working on it!
I've semi-decided that the next time I'm in Mexico, I'll buy a bunch of fresh mole - some of every kind I can get my hands on - and then have a big mole party with it once I'm back in Austin.
Welcome to "From the Midwest" Meetup Matt. Moved here from Indiana a number of years ago. Don't miss the winters but I do miss the roller coasters at Cedar Point.
I hope that I can make it out at some point! I won't be in town for the next one. But this is such a great idea!
Hi Matt! Welcome. We're still trying to get organized here, so we could use your experience in co-founding a Jewish group. There's supposedly 18,000 Jews in Austin. And if the 10% rule holds true, there should be 1,800 Jewish GBLTs! So at least our group is a start. Hope you can make the Shabbat dinner on June 29. I personally am a member at Beth Israel (Reform), and there's a good little group of us that typically attend services on Friday evenings. Hit me up if your interested. --Aaron
