Holy Posole Hunger Project Meetup Group – in a “nutshell”
Food banks, shelters, soup kitchens, and other charitable organizations dedicated to serving the less fortunate in our communities often need the help of volunteers to accomplish their mission. The purpose of this Meetup is to connect organizations in need of help with a network of available volunteers.

There are more hungry people in America now than ever before. Fortunately, many non-profit organizations across the country exist to serve the hungry. Most of these organizations rely on food donations, which they distribute to the needy or serve directly to the hungry.
The mission of the Holy Posole Hunger Project is help community food pantries, food banks, shelters and soup kitchens through direct donation of delicious, nutritious foods.
Sometimes having food to serve is not enough, sometimes the organizations serving hungry people need some extra hands to help fulfill their mission. The purpose of this Meetup is to connect willing and able volunteers with organizations seeking their assistance.
About the Holy Posole Hunger Project:
Holy Posole Soups are products of Ely’s All Natural Soups & Sauces, manufactured and sold for-profit through normal retail channels. 100% of those profits are used to make more soup, which is then distributed to feed needy people across the country.
The Project is not a “tax-exempt organization”. It does not accept donations of any kind, nor does it donate money, only food.
Holy Posole Hunger Project continues a tradition of giving started by Sharon Ely, the creator of Holy Posole Soup. Sharon began sharing her soup with the needy by serving orphans in Mexico from the back her station wagon. She would load her car at home in Austin Texas, drive all the way to orphanages in Mexico, and serve her soup to the hungry children, all by herself.
Now that Holy Posole is more widely distributed through normal retail channels, it makes more sense to deliver food donations to charitable organizations on the same trucks that deliver to supermarkets and grocery stores, rather than by personal car.
What you can do:
Very often, organizations that have added themselves to the Holy Posole Hunger Project Distribution List also need help with service to their clientele. This is where you come in.
When a need for volunteers arises at a food pantry or soup kitchen, we will schedule a Meetup to help them. We believe the world is full of generous people who are willing and able to donate their time to help others. Are you one of these people?
If you know of an organization in need of volunteers, please suggest a Meetup to get them the help they need.
Maybe you would like to be an organizer of this group, if so let us know!
