I have a small farm and nursery in the back yard of my suburban lot. I have approximately 1/4 acre under cultivation. For the last few years I have been selling produce to a number of upscale restaurants in the Princeton area. Last year I began a small nursery specializing in small fruits and berries, such as currant, gooseberry, strawberry, aronia, serviceberry and elderberry. I sell these plants to nurseries and individuals. I have not quit my day job as a school librarian but this does give me a nice supplemental income and has a lot of potential for expansion. I think this would be a good model for others to see and also a good opportunity to see and learn about some uncommon plants that have a good market potential for small growers.
