The 1st ever “Philly Farm & Food Fest” (PF3) will rock The Pennsylvania Convention Center Annex on Sunday April 1, 2012. PF3 brings together local farmers, growers and producers with businesses large enough to wholesale, and also able to sell directly to consumers in and around Philadelphia. We anticipate approximately 100-150 farm booths displaying their products and sharing their stories. There will be a morning “trade show” session open to commercial buyers only, enabling them to meet farmers and discuss potential business relationships.
Beginning at noon, doors open to the public. We anticipate over 1000 attendees. There will be access to the farmers’ display area, a keynote speaker, and a series of workshops with an emphasis on consumer issues and lifestyle topics. Possible workshops and demos include, “Chickens in My Backyard”, “Bees for Beginners”, “The Pleasures of Eating Nose to Tail”, “How to Shop Your Farmers’ Market”, “Fermentation Fun” and others to be held in classrooms within the Annex. Workshop presenters will be drawn from farmers, farm educators, chefs, restaurateurs, bloggers, composters, and other advocates for sustainable agriculture, local food systems, and green lifestyles.
In the halls and common areas around the trade show floor will be exhibitors and sponsors. These groups will be local businesses and supporters of sustainability, including food business such as Capogiro Gelato, One Village Coffee, Metropolitan Bakery, and others. We expect this area to be a major draw for consumers eager to connect with local and sustainable food sources.
PF3 ushers in the growing season for locally raised foods and offers eaters a timely way to connect with a supply of delicious, affordable, and sustainable products as spring arrives.
