manhattan beach CA
I live in Manhattan Beach, have just begun keeping bees on purpose (had a large feral hive for 2 years before they had to be moved for removing the backyard swimming pool for my new food garden) I have chickens, 2 ducks, and raised organic beds for vegetables. There is a small orchard being cultivated with "backyard orchard culture" principles, several dwarf citrus, lots of cover crop for attracting pollinators and feeding greens to the poultry. I got my first hive from a friend, but the transport was not too well done and most of them died from oxygen deprivation and heat stress. That hive is now augmented with a feral colony just removed from a Marina del Rey water meter box. My second hive came from a BBK member, is very strong and came with a afternoon of mentoring in the ways of keeping bees. I am very obsessed with reading and finding out more about the mysteries of the bee world.
