Game of the Geek 5: Troyes (Advanced)

  • Jun 16, 2013 · 2:30 PM

Up for longer and more intense games? Here’s the event for you!

This week: Troyes

I'll bring the game and teach it. It's only a four-player game, but if anyone else has a copy and can teach it we can see about getting a second game going. Location TBA, probably either Capstone or the Wan Chai Jolly Thinkers. The game itself is about 90 minutes long. We'll either play through it twice or follow it up with something else similar, so please plan for about 4 hours of board gaming.

--

The host will teach the game to everyone who doesn't know the rules, but since the games we play do tend to be more complicated and more involved, we expect that most players will be experienced board gamers. That said, we welcome everyone who's interested to join the waiting list. The hosts will select who's coming a few days after the event goes up.

When you sign up, please tell us what games you know well enough to teach to others. We're hosting these partly because we want a chance to play some of our favorite games, but also because we'd like to learn new ones. It's hard to do that if we're the only ones doing the teaching!

The usual rules apply:

  • Please be on time, and please don't cancel at the last minute. This is especially important in a smaller group.
  • The venues we play at charge a fee for playing. Usually the whole session will cost HK$90-100.
  • Wear a smile! We're here to have fun and meet new friends.

Thanks Sam for teaching us to play! It's better to play the game in person then reading a rulebook!

Glad you enjoyed it. We'll have to play again when I get back.

Yuting, if you see this, can you send me a message? I want to figure out the location for this. I tried to send you one but it may have gotten caught in your spam folder, which happens to me sometimes with meetup messages.

I have 3 more friends to join, so maybe we can expand the size of the playing group so that we don't need to stay on the wait list.

Okay, I think we'll just stick with one group then, sorry Victoria. Troyes is pretty complicated and I won't be able to do a good job of teaching two groups.

No problem. My friends and I will go to Jolly thinkers maybe and play simpler games, from which we will still derive lots of fun. Btw, thx a lot, Mr. Kwong. Really appreciate ur kind gesture.
