To be introduced to new books and new people.
Fifth Business by Robertson Davies Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez I almost thought of The Road by Cormac McCarthy but that might be too bleak and frightening on a desert island.
The book on our book list plus whatever else catches my eye.
Hello, this is Wency from HK Eslite Bookstore (the largest bookstore in HK situated in Causeway Bay Hysan Place). I am working on our in-house magazine "on the SCENE" July issue and our cover story is about bookclub.
I found the Hong Kong Book Club and have read some background information and found it an interesting meeting group. I would like to feature your book club in our magazine. It would be great if you can contact me on 3419-6752/6143-7071 so we can discuss more.
Hi Kathy, how nice to find this club and I just joined today. I am currently in California and will be back to HK end of Feb. I have only started reading A Walk to Freedom (just got a used copy from Amazon) and I am a slow reader but would love to come to the Mar 10 session but don't think I will finish the book by then.
Hi Kathy, this is Melody. I attended meetups on Trespass and Factory Girls. At the meetup on Trespass, I met this woman who works as an editor at JP Morgan. I remember that she really hated Trespass. She gave me her name card but I lost it. Do you have any idea what her name is? I am really in urgent need to find a professional editor and she told me she knows some people. Thank you so much!
Kathy, I'm leaving HK on Saturday, leaving party is this Friday, at Otto Lounge in LKF. Please stop by if you're free. (Sorry, I don't have your e-mail; you can e-mail me at [masked].)
Thanks Kathy, Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to make 16th, as I think I'll be out of town with work. But I'll look for the book anyway. Best, Judy
Hi Kathy, Good to see everyone on Saturday. Sorry I had to leave a bit early. Wondered if a book / date was selected for next month? Thanks Judy
Hi Kathy! My name is Isabel Boren and I just joined the HK Book lovers club. I'm from Sweden and have lived in Hong Kong for nearly four years and was really glad to find out about the this book club. What book are you reading now ? Can I attend Saturdays meeting even thought I have not yet read the book? Looking forward to hear from you. BR/ Isabel
