This is a problem. I am a beginner in Cantonese. I always thought that teaching was an inherent skill, but apparenty it isn't. I've taught music to elementary school children as a volunteer, as well as English, also as a volunteer without any formal training. I thought the process of teaching beginners explained itself, but I've now learned that it doesn't. I've been to two meet ups and none of the people I've been with have had the slightest notion of how to relay informaton to a beginner. Even when I've explained it--they don't get it. So, I'm not getting as much out of this as the people I'm speaking to in English. If I was faced with a Cantonese speaker with no English skills, I could absolutely get them started. It does not happen the other way around.
