Cold Process Lavender Soap Making DIY Workshop

DIY Cosmetics comes back again. This time we make something everyone likes, LAVENDER SOAP! We’ll make big batches of soap from scratch together, using all natural ingredients. Our featured ingredients are Coconut Oil restoring skin and hair integrity and providing a protective layer to combat the damaging effects of sun and Lavender, antiseptic and anti-fungal, helping to reduce scarring and speeds healing.

Each crafter will get 500g of soap he/she makes (can be divided into 5 – 7 pieces)

Organic Coconut Oil
Olive Oil
Canola Oil infused with Comfrey
Organic Shea Butter
A Lot Of Lavender blossom
Indigo as colorant
Organic Lavender Oil as fragrance
Sodium Hydroxide* (also known as lye)

*Lye: a necessary ingredient to cold process soap making, very caustic. Be very careful when you deal with Lye.

Get yourself prepared:

1. Bring 2 Stainless Steel Bowls – one should be big with a volume of 1000 ml or above; the other one can be small with a volume of 500ml or a bit less

2. If your hands have very sensitive skin, bring a pair of gloves that you feel comfortable wearing them.
If you have a very precise electric scale, bring it over. I have two, better to have more.

3. Bring a cleaned milk box for 1 kg milk.  We will use it as a soap mold.

4. Bring a used but clean medium size towel to protect you soap on the way home.

Cost: $150 per crafter for all ingredients listed below to make 500g of soap
Duration: 2.5 hours

Making your own soap is not only fun and good for your skin, but saves you so much money. For example, if you are going to buy a natural handmade soap bar 80g from 'SO...SOAP', it costs $38 HKD already. For 500g of soap, it will be $237.5 HKD

If you already use organic coconut oil as your skincare, you already know that 480ml of organic coconut oil costs about $150 HKD.

One tool added, AN EGG WHISK. Please get your egg whisk ready for tomorrow. If you have an ELECTRONIC HAND BLENDER: and don't mind to share it with us, WE I ALL will be very grateful. It will fasten the soap making process SO MUCH…. If you are able to bring a electronic hand blender, text me a message. [masked]
